Hungary’s Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó is suspected of passing details to his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, sparking serious alarm among European leaders. This move is part of a broader set of security measures the EU is adopting in response to threats originating from Russia.

During EU meetings, Szijjártó has been observed regularly calling Lavrov, raising questions about the safety of information shared in these talks. EU Migration Commissioner Magnus Brunner noted that

“Vladimir Putin is essentially the main driving force behind migration into Europe”
