Ryanair may return to the French airport of Bergerac: what is known.
Possible return of Ryanair to the airport in Europe
According to The Sun: The budget airline Ryanair may resume flights to a European airport from which it recently canceled flights after 20 years of service.
Notably, Ryanair canceled all winter flights to Bergerac Dordogne Périgord airport in France due to rising taxes for airlines in the country.

This small town in southwestern France is famous for its historical atmosphere, with ancient half-timbered houses visible on the streets.
The decision to cancel flights was announced in June; at the same time, the company canceled winter flights to other French cities, such as Brive and Strasbourg.
After this, the president of the Dordogne Chamber of Commerce (CCI), which deals with airport matters, noted in an interview with The Connexion that the airline is likely to return to the airport in the summer of 2026.
French media began speculating about the possible closure of Bergerac airport.
“We must understand that Ryanair has only announced a suspension of its flights from London Stansted during the winter months,” said CCI president Christophe Fovel.
He added: “Our traffic is very seasonal; most of our passengers fly from April to October.”
Fovel noted that the cancellation of winter flights would only affect about 18,000 passengers, and airport runway work is planned between January and February.
“At this point, everything indicates that Ryanair will return to Bergerac airport in the summer of 2026,” he confirmed.
Economic impact of the airport closure
The president of CCI also expressed concern about the economic future of the airport, as it brings in between 60 and 100 million euros each year for the region.
If the airport closes, it will significantly impact surrounding areas such as Dordogne, southern Gironde, and parts of Lot-et-Garonne and Lot.
The French region has long-standing ties with Great Britain, with many British people choosing to live in this area, and direct flights have been in place since 2003.
The CCI president assured that he believes in the continuation of this important connection, despite the current situation with Ryanair's winter flights.
Moreover, other airlines such as Vueling and Volotea plan to introduce new routes between Great Britain and this French region.
Currently, Ryanair operates flights from several airports in Great Britain to Bergerac, including Bournemouth, Bristol, East Midlands, Liverpool, Edinburgh, and London Stansted.
British Airways also services London City and Southampton airports, while Jet2 has flights from Leeds Bradford and Manchester airports.

Bergerac is a wonderful town to visit, especially the Musée de Tabac, which tells the story of tobacco, and a popular place showcasing the region's wines – Maison des Vins.
The narrow cobbled streets and lively central square give the town a calm atmosphere, distinct from the bustling urban spots like Paris.
There are also several opportunities for river cruises on the Dordogne River in the area.
The town is located about an hour and 20 minutes from Bordeaux and two and a half hours from Toulouse.
Sun Travel reached out to Ryanair for a comment.
In recent years, Bergerac airport has become increasingly important for air transport in this region, especially considering the increased interest in traveling to France. As the prospect of resuming flights in 2026 has not yet been definitively confirmed, many tourists are eagerly watching the developments. This issue remains relevant, considering the economic implications for the region if the airport is unable to continue its operations.Read also
