FTX to Distribute Another $900 Million: Which Creditors Will Be Paid by Summer 2026.
FTX Cryptocurrency Exchange Announces New Payout Round
According to Мінфін — Крипто/Фінанси: The bankrupt crypto exchange FTX has unveiled plans for a fifth distribution phase, scheduled to begin on July 31, 2026. This round is projected to disburse roughly $900 million to eligible creditors. To qualify, claimants must complete the verification process by June 16. Overall, the restructuring plan aims to return between $16 billion and $17 billion, with recovered funds already exceeding $10 billion.
Restructuring Plan Timeline
FTX's reorganization blueprint received court approval in October 2024. The plan outlines multiple payout rounds:
- The first round kicks off in February 2025, releasing $454 million to creditors with a recovery rate of 119%.
- The second round, occurring in May 2025, will be the largest, distributing $5 billion.
- The third round is set for September 2025, offering $1.6 billion with recovery rates ranging from 78% to 120%.
- The fourth round takes place in March 2026, providing an additional $2.2 billion to creditors.
Separately, a deadline for Tether is fixed for July 18, 2028. In July 2025, the GENIUS Act—a piece of legislation aimed at regulating the cryptocurrency market—was passed. Notably, in April 2023, the first criminal incident involving the Allbridge platform occurred, resulting in losses of $570,000. A subsequent attack on Allbridge Core caused damages totaling $1.65 million.
FTX's restructuring plan reflects the company's efforts to rebuild trust among creditors and investors following the financial turmoil that led to its bankruptcy. The staggered payout schedule could serve as a critical step in compensating affected parties. Furthermore, the passage of the GENIUS Act signals increased regulatory attention on the crypto market, which may shape the industry's future direction.
