According to The Sun: One of the simplest and most accessible ways to feel the Christmas atmosphere is to attend the ceremony of turning on the festive lights.

Fortunately, London has plenty of such events, with the dates of many of the brightest already announced, so you can jot them down in your calendar.

Belgravia

The streets of Motcomb, Elizabeth Street, Pimlico Road, Eccleston Yards, and Halkin Arcade in Belgravia will light up with Christmas lights in a month.

To see the ceremony, head to Elizabeth Street on Sunday, November 16, 2025.

During the event, not only will the lights be turned on, but there will also be live performances by the London Gay Men’s Chorus and the Fulham Brass Band.

For an extra festive atmosphere, there will be a fair in Eccleston Yards.

Carnaby Street

Carnaby Street is known for its original illumination – although it is not the largest, it is still worth seeing.

This year, the theme 'Into the Light' is repeated with large stars as design elements.

This time the lights will not only be white, but also colorful.

The illumination of the shopping street in the heart of Soho will start on Thursday, November 6, 2025.

Chelsea

On Saturday, November 15, part of King’s Road will become pedestrian – between Sloane Square and Walpole Street.

Beautiful Christmas illumination will adorn the trees and houses along the street.

As last year, the streets will likely be filled with temporary shops offering face painting and themed tents selling mulled wine and pastries.

Even Santa Claus himself is likely to pay a visit!

Covent Garden

Picturesque Covent Garden will be decorated with Christmas trees, baubles, bells, and sledges starting Wednesday, November 12, 2025.

Don’t miss the gigantic 55-foot Christmas tree with fake snow, creating snow drifts every hour from 12:00 to 21:00.

Last year the tree was lit at 17:30, so it is likely to be the same this year, but keep an eye on social media for confirmation.

This event also covers the Seven Dials area and Neal’s Yard.

Leadenhall Market

Leadenhall Market may not be the first place that comes to mind when it comes to London's Christmas lights, but it truly celebrates.

Under the beautiful domed roof stands an 18-foot Christmas tree adorned with charming baubles and red ribbons.

Lady Sue Langley will turn on the Christmas lights that will sparkle on Thursday, November 13 at 18:00.

It is always crowded here, so if you want to make it to this event, it's better to arrive early.

Marylebone Village

Marylebone Village will light up with holiday spirit on Wednesday, November 12, 2025.

As part of Merry Marylebone, the main street will become pedestrian, and visitors can enjoy fair tents, late shopping, and even meet Santa in his grotto.

Devonshire Street will also be closed to traffic, as the main stage will feature live music and school choirs.

Regent Street

Regent Street is one of the most beautiful places to view Christmas lights due to its curved street.

Above the red London buses are the famous angel lights, also known as 'The Spirit of Christmas'.

On the opposite side of the road, 30 large angel sculptures made of LED lights have been shining since 2014.

These lights do not burn all day – they work on a timer, but shine when the sun sets.

This year, the lights on Regent Street will work from Thursday, November 6, until early January.

Oxford Street

The largest Christmas illumination on Oxford Street is still in question.

Usually, this is the first place in London where the Christmas lights are turned on, and it seems it will be the case this year as well.

It is expected that the decorations will light up on Tuesday, November 4, making them earlier than their neighbors.

The festive event is usually accompanied by live music, and the light switch-on is done by celebrities.

The Christmas lights on Oxford Street will shine until January 5, 2026.
