Gerasimov called the head of the US Army after the Russian strike 'Oreshnik': NYT revealed what they talked about.
The Russian General Staff called the Chief of Staff of the US
Valery Gerasimov, Chief of the General Staff of Russia, made a phone call to General Charles Brown, the head of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff. This was reported by the NYT publication citing representatives of the military department.
Gerasimov called Brown six days after Russia's missile strike on Dnipro. During the conversation, they discussed the possibility of easing tensions between the two countries.
The launch of 'Oreshnik' was planned long before Ukraine received permission to use ATACMS for strikes deep into Russia
Brown's representative, Jerel Dorsey, confirmed that they discussed security issues, including the conflict in Ukraine. He also noted that the call from Gerasimov was private.
It is worth noting that it is unknown why Gerasimov wanted to keep the conversation with Brown confidential. The last time they spoke was in October this year.
It was previously reported that Russia may be trying to compromise Ukraine regarding the exchange of prisoners.
