Price caps need to be canceled or aligned with European prices – representatives of RES.

Representatives of Ukrainian renewable energy are demanding changes to the price caps in the electricity market of Ukraine. In letters addressed to the National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Public Utilities (NCSREPU), they asked to cancel or raise these prices to the European level. Representatives of associations representing wind energy, solar energy, as well as general renewable energy, believe that such a step will attract additional funds for equipment repairs and preparation for the heating season, as well as ease the debt crisis in the electricity market.
Representatives of the wind power plants "Shchaslyvy" and "Ostrovsky" also expressed their support for this initiative, arguing that setting price caps in the electricity market does not meet European standards and hinders the construction of new power plants.
One of the companies, Elementum Energy, proposes to set maximum price caps at the level of 4000 euros per MWh. They believe that this will be a step towards the integration of Ukrainian and European energy markets. The company also emphasizes the importance of implementing measures aimed at integrating energy markets to form competitive and fair pricing.
Earlier, the director of the Euro-Ukrainian Energy Agency Anastasia Vereshchynska stated the need to adapt price restrictions to European prices to ensure stable electricity supply in Ukraine, especially in winter. According to her, this will allow traders and businesses to purchase electricity abroad in case of a deficit in the domestic market.
