Extended Power Cuts for Kharkiv

According to Novyny.live: Residents of Kharkiv and the surrounding region will face prolonged electricity blackouts starting February 3rd. This is due to a critical state of the power grid caused by enemy shelling. Ukraine's national energy company, Ukrenergo, has announced the necessity of limiting electricity consumption, which will trigger a new schedule of outages.

Details of the New Outage Schedule

The new schedule divides consumers into several groups with specific blackout periods:

  • Groups 1.1, 1.2, 2.1, and 2.2:
    • from 00:00 to 01:30,
    • from 05:00 to 12:00,
    • from 15:30 to 22:30.
  • Groups 3.1, 3.2, 4.1, and 4.2:
    • from 00:00 to 05:00,
    • from 08:30 to 15:30,
    • from 19:00 to 24:00.
  • Groups 5.1, 5.2, 6.1, and 6.2:
    • from 01:30 to 08:30,
    • from 12:00 to 19:00,
    • from 22:30 to 24:00.

This new power outage schedule is a response to the severe strain on the energy system and an attempt to maintain supply stability during an emergency. Residents must prepare for these new consumption restrictions, which may remain in effect for some time. These rolling blackouts are a common wartime measure to prevent a total collapse of the grid.

The power supply situation in the Kharkiv region reflects the broader challenges Ukraine faces during the war. Attacks on critical infrastructure by Russian forces cause major disruptions to electricity supply, threatening not only comfort but also public safety. Limiting consumption is the state's effort to support grid stability and avoid more severe consequences for the region.
