Mayor Ihor Terekhov confirmed that a group of unmanned aerial vehicles, including the Iranian-made 'Shahed' drone, targeted the city. The first explosion was recorded at 00:09, with approximately seven blasts heard by 00:44. These attacks are part of a sustained Russian campaign against Ukraine's second-largest city, which lies near the border. All impacts were registered in Kharkiv's Industrial District.

Mayor Terekhov urged residents to exercise caution, warning that another group of hostile drones was approaching the city. This was not an isolated incident; the previous day, January 23, explosions were also heard in Kharkiv due to drone activity. On that same day, Russian forces struck a civilian vehicle with a drone near the village of Prudianka.
