Explosions Rock Kharkiv in Drone Assault
According to Novyny.live: Kharkiv was struck by a series of explosions during a drone attack on the night of January 24. Mayor Ihor Terekhov confirmed that a group of unmanned aerial vehicles, including the Iranian-made 'Shahed' drone, targeted the city. The first explosion was recorded at 00:09, with approximately seven blasts heard by 00:44. These attacks are part of a sustained Russian campaign against Ukraine's second-largest city, which lies near the border. All impacts were registered in Kharkiv's Industrial District.
Mayor Terekhov urged residents to exercise caution, warning that another group of hostile drones was approaching the city. This was not an isolated incident; the previous day, January 23, explosions were also heard in Kharkiv due to drone activity. On that same day, Russian forces struck a civilian vehicle with a drone near the village of Prudianka.
City on High Alert
The situation in the city remains tense, and residents must stay vigilant during air raid alarms. Local authorities continue to call on citizens to follow safety protocols, especially given the active aerial threats.
These repeated drone assaults on Kharkiv underscore the ongoing escalation of the conflict and the persistent danger to civilians. Such incidents highlight the critical need for emergency preparedness in frontline regions and the importance of international support to bolster Ukraine's air defenses.
