Arson in a cafe due to lack of mayonnaise

According to The Sun: HELLMANN'S has decided to cover the costs of repairing a cafe in Spain that was set on fire by an enraged customer who didn't receive mayonnaise with his sandwich.

The mayonnaise company is ready to pay for the restoration of Cafetería Las Postas, located near Seville, following the shocking incident that took place last month.

A company representative stated:

“Cafetería Las Postas, we regret not being there. From now on, you can count on us.”

The brand also promised to keep mayonnaise on the shelves in the future, as reported by Euro Weekly News.

Incredible incident at the cafe

The owner of the establishment, José Antonio Caballero, described the event as “surreal” and admitted that he cannot understand the customer's actions.

He recounted:

“First one waiter, then another explained to the man that we have no mayonnaise, as there is no kitchen in the bar and the sandwiches are already prepared.”

After that, the customer went to a garage across the street, returned with a bottle of gasoline, and asked:

“Are you sure there is no mayonnaise?”

Footage from security cameras shows him entering the cafe, pouring fuel on the counter, and igniting it with a lighter. As the flames began to rise to the ceiling, startled customers, some of whom were children, started to flee while employees tried to extinguish the fire.

Caballero also noted that the fire caused damages of about £7,000, but he praised the “quick-thinking workers” for managing to stop the flames from spreading.

Fortunately, no one was injured, and the suspect, around 50 years old, was arrested a few minutes later in a nearby alley after he burned his hand.

The police reported that the man was taken to a medical center under guard and will soon face charges. Investigators are looking into the cause of the fire, as it is known that he was with two other people at the time.

This incident sparked lively discussions online following Hellmann's response. Some users believe this is a clever marketing move, while others noted it reflects an inappropriate approach:

“Hellmann's, this is a bit in bad taste, isn't it? You got attention? Yes. But at what cost?”

This incident highlights once again how important it is to uphold corporate responsibility and find ways to respond to extreme consumer behavior. It remains to be seen what consequences this case will have for the companies involved and society at large. The issue of product supply limitations also gains new context in light of this incident.
