The Child from the Window Who Survived the Hamas Attack: How Two-Year-Old Kai Looks Now.
The Child Who Survived the Hamas Attack
According to The Sun: Little Kai Mintz, known worldwide as the 'child from the window', survived the horrors of October 7 when Hamas terrorists burned part of his family home and killed neighbors.
Kai was only ten days old when he found himself at the epicenter of an eight-hour terrorist attack in 2023.
On the anniversary of this tragic day, Kai was spotted happily waving and smiling with his family, recounting the events to The Sun.
Family Memories of Horror
The Mintz family recalls how they fought for their lives as Hamas representatives sought to kill them. Their home was destroyed, and relatives had to hide in a safe place, fending off attacks from the assailants.
'I never imagined I would be in a smoke-filled room as dozens of men tried to break in,' confessed Kai's grandmother, Deborah Mintz.
“I wasn't really there. It was like preparing for death,” Deborah noted.
The family remained in shock, especially after hearing their little dog, Mickey, screaming as he burned in the fire.
Kai's Strength
Kai gave his family the strength to keep fighting. His mother, Aimee, tried to save him by throwing him to the window to provide him fresh air while the room filled with smoke.
“Somehow we managed to do it,” Aimee said.
Eventually, the family was rescued by Israeli forces who came to Kibbutz Nirim.
Kai Today
Now, Kai is a healthy two-year-old boy full of energy. His face shines with a smile again as he sits on his mother's lap.
Aimee proudly noted that Kai is learning three languages: English, Hebrew, and Spanish.
“He is a very happy, playful boy... a good kid,” Aimee added.
A Memory That Will Not Be Forgotten
Even two years after the horrific events, grandmother Deborah still remembers the fear.
“My mind is still stuck on that black day... It's frightening,” she said.
The family honors the memory of those who died on October 7 and prays for an end to the war in Gaza, hoping for a cessation of violence.
