Tusk Warned the EU of Demise: Europe Faces Loss of Global Influence.
According to ТСН: Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has made a serious warning regarding the future of the European Union. Against the backdrop of increasing foreign policy challenges and internal disagreements, the Polish leader emphasized that without a united effort, the continent risks ultimately losing its influence.
The Influence of a Diluted Europe
Tusk underscored that a weak and divided Europe is ceasing to be a significant player on the world stage. This negatively affects its perception by both enemies and allies.
“It is already clear right now. We must finally believe in our own strength, we must continue to arm ourselves, we must remain united as never before. One for all, and all for one. Otherwise, it will be the end for us,” he said.
Geopolitical Challenges
Worrisome words from Warsaw echoed against the backdrop of new ambitions from Washington. US President Donald Trump has again raised the issue of control over Greenland, expressing concern for national security. He promised to "take care" of this issue soon.
Also, the military operation by the US in Venezuela has become a new test for the unity of the EU. The reaction of the countries within the bloc has varied. The head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, called for restraint, a position supported by 26 countries, except Hungary.
Different Views in Europe
According to the analysis, Spain has effectively distanced itself from the overall EU course, condemning Washington's actions as an attack on Venezuela's sovereignty. Meanwhile, Italy characterized these actions as a legitimate response to "hybrid attacks." The Prime Ministers of Slovakia and Hungary, Robert Fico and Viktor Orban, used this situation to criticize the current world order, claiming its ultimate collapse.
These differences in opinions only underscore Tusk's concerns: the lack of a common defense and foreign strategy makes Europe vulnerable to unilateral actions by powerful states.
It should be noted that Venezuela has faced military aggression from the US, resulting in President Nicolas Maduro signing a decree to declare a state of emergency in the country.
In the context of this year's events, Tusk's statement highlights the critical need for the consolidation of Europe in response to global challenges. Strategic disunity among countries could pose a serious threat to the future of the EU, especially amid rising tensions on the international stage.
