India funds Russia's war: The US sharply condemned the purchase of Russian oil.
India is funding Russia's war against Ukraine by buying Russian oil. The country is effectively tied to China on this issue.
'Trump has made it very clear that it is unacceptable for India to continue funding this war by buying oil from Russia', said Deputy Chief of Staff of the White House and one of Trump's most influential aides, Stephen Miller. This was reported by Reuters.
The publication writes that Miller's critique was one of the strongest that the Trump administration expressed regarding one of the main partners of the United States in the Indo-Pacific region. At the same time, he softened his criticism, noting Trump's 'great' relationship with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
What does India say about this?
Sources in the Indian government stated to Reuters that New Delhi will continue to buy oil from Moscow despite US threats.
Recently, the United Kingdom imposed another package of sanctions against Russia's 'shadow fleet'. The new restrictions are intended to reduce income for the aggressor country from the sale and transportation of oil. It is already known about at least three tanker owners who have reported their desire to terminate contracts for transporting raw materials from the RF. Such situations may increase in the future.
India continues to buy oil from Russia despite criticism from the US. Sanctions against Russia's 'shadow fleet' could lead to a reduction in the aggressor country's income from oil sales. This situation could lead to further escalation of the conflict.
