Russia threatens strikes on Western troops in Ukraine: what Zakharova said.
According to ТСН: The spokesperson of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, stated that Moscow would regard the deployment of Western troops and facilities in Ukraine as an act of intervention that threatens security.
According to Russian propaganda media, Zakharova emphasized that the placement of ‘multinational forces’ in Ukraine is a form of intervention. She noted that military formations of the ‘coalition of the willing’ and their facilities would be considered legitimate targets for the Russian armed forces.
Moreover, the spokesperson of the Russian MFA added that a peaceful resolution of the situation is only possible if Ukraine returns to a non-aligned status, demilitarization, denazification, and recognition of ‘current territorial realities’.
Zakharova also noted that these goals could be achieved either through political-diplomatic efforts or during the war, which Russia calls a ‘special operation’.
What is known about the deployment of Western troops to Ukraine?
Recently, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, and France signed an important declaration of intent to deploy multinational security forces on Ukrainian territory following a peace agreement. The document, supported by U.S. representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, includes five key components:
monitoring of the ceasefire under American leadership,
constant support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine,
military presence of partners,
commitments to respond in case of a new attack,
deep defense cooperation.
The UK and France plan to establish secure military hubs throughout Ukraine. The U.S. confirmed the finalization of security protocols aimed at ending the war. Despite the readiness of allies, Germany is currently providing only financial support.
These events indicate that the international community is actively working on ensuring stability in Ukraine despite opposition from Russia. The deployment of international military forces could significantly alter the dynamics of the conflict and contribute to a peaceful resolution of the situation in the region.
