Vlada found 22 billion hryvnias for green producers: where the funds will go.
According to inkorr.com: Director of TOV NVP 'Energo-Plus' Yevgen Korff expressed the opinion that additional financial resources for renewable energy will not only help settle debts but will also serve as a catalyst for improving Ukraine's energy infrastructure. He emphasized that this issue touches not only infrastructure but also resilience, security, and trust in the country.
According to data from relevant associations, debts to producers of 'green' electricity amount to 22 billion UAH. The largest part of the debts was in 2022 (63%) and 2024 (87%). Currently, the debt of NEC 'Ukrenergo' to the company 'Guaranteed Buyer' amounts to 16.3 billion UAH.
Korff clarified that investors have approached the NKRECP with a proposal to solve the debt problem. They believe that the formula for calculating imbalances for 2021-2022 was incorrect and are calling for a review of the debt repayment mechanism, taking into account court decisions.
Incentive for Investment
Korff notes that the discussion of debts goes far beyond legal analysis. 'This is a matter of unlocking investment potential. When the sector sees that the state acknowledges its obligations and seeks ways to fulfill them, it fosters new investments,' he added.
It is emphasized that the returned funds will be invested in new projects, as Ukrainian companies have demonstrated their responsibility in restructuring the energy sector. Investors are also waiting for a clear government plan regarding the timelines for settling debts for electricity in 2022.
Turning Point for the Sector
The government's actions regarding debts to green energy producers may become critically important for the development of renewable energy in Ukraine, facilitating the attraction of new investments and enhancing energy efficiency in the country.
Taking into account debts and implementing new repayment mechanisms in the energy sector have the potential not only to stabilize the financial situation but also to increase investor interest in renewable energy sources. This could be an important step towards energy independence and security for Ukraine.
