Spain's New €60 Nationwide Travel Pass: A Guide to Unlimited Journeys.
Spain's Monthly Travel Pass
According to Novyny.live: Starting January 21, 2026, Spain will launch a fixed-price monthly travel pass, enabling unlimited journeys across the country for a flat fee of €60. This initiative is part of a broader European trend to make public transport more affordable and reduce car dependency. A discounted rate of €30 per month will be available for young people under the age of 26.
The pass is valid for travel on Renfe's Cercanías (commuter) and Media Distancia (medium-distance) trains, as well as on state-run intercity bus services. The government's goal with this new scheme is to simplify national travel and make it more accessible for the general public.
Free Travel for Children
Children born on or after January 1, 2012, will be eligible for free travel, but they must first complete a registration process. It is important to note that this registration, which provides a personal travel code, must be finalized at least 24 hours before purchasing the pass.
Consequently, Spain's new universal travel pass creates significant opportunities for exploring the country, offering greater convenience and cost savings for residents and visitors alike.
The introduction of this pass could substantially boost the popularity of public transport in Spain.
Discounts for youth and free travel for children are also expected to increase public transport usage among younger demographics. This move represents a positive step toward fostering environmental awareness and improving the economic accessibility of travel within the nation.
