According to The Sun: Emails released in the media show that Peter Mandelson provided support to his 'friend' Jeffrey Epstein during his 'years of torment' over allegations of sexual crimes against minors.

“Your friends will stand by you and love you.”

Lord Mandelson's apology

Shortly before Epstein received 18 months in prison under a plea deal with Florida prosecutors, Mandelson wrote:

“Fight for early release.”

This information emerged just hours before the Briton reported new compromising correspondence with his former friend.

Lord Mandelson must fight the scandal

Lord Mandelson also emphasized that his long contact with Epstein, particularly through traveling on his private jet, did not lead to any 'offense'.

He claimed that he saw no signs of criminal activity and suggested that his sexual orientation may have influenced his perception of the situation.

Noting that he never saw any evidence of criminal acts by Epstein, he added:

“Maybe it’s because I’m gay.”

The situation surrounding Lord Mandelson has further intensified against the backdrop of growing public interest in his relationships with Epstein, especially in the context of investigations into sexual crimes. The diplomat's apologies and explanations seem to do little to reduce the tension surrounding his person. Whether Mandelson can overcome this crisis moment remains to be seen.
