Ukraine's 2026 Biometric Passport: New Visa-Free Destinations for Travelers.
The 2026 Biometric Passport
According to Novyny.live: Starting in 2026, a new biometric passport will provide Ukrainian citizens with significantly greater travel freedom. This document will allow Ukrainians visa-free access to the Schengen Area for stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period, simplifying travel for both tourism and business. This development is part of Ukraine's ongoing integration with European systems.
Travel Destinations and Stay Conditions
As of January 2026, holders of the new passport can visit the following countries for up to 90 days without a visa:
- Cyprus
- Albania
- Serbia
- North Macedonia
Stays in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro are limited to 30 days. For travel to Turkey, Georgia, or Moldova, the standard visa-free period is also up to 90 days, with Georgia notably allowing Ukrainian citizens to stay for up to one year.
However, visa-free access is not universal. Ukrainian travelers will still require a visa to enter:
- Ireland
- The United Kingdom
- The United States
- Canada
- Australia
- New Zealand
Additionally, entry into Poland will be impossible for Ukrainians without valid medical insurance coverage.
The introduction of this passport marks a key step in streamlining international travel for Ukrainians, which is expected to benefit the tourism sector and business relations. In the current geopolitical context, such changes also help strengthen international ties and provide more opportunities for Ukrainians seeking to work or travel abroad.
