The US Coast Guard has released high-quality footage of the wreckage of the Titan submersible, which exploded last year, killing all five passengers on board. This is reported by 24 Techno.

The new footage shows significant damage to the submersible's hull, including cracks along the central seam and scattered wires and tubes on the ocean floor.

The investigation into the disaster continues, and new findings are emerging, including testimonies about the company's head ignoring safety issues.

The released footage shows a remotely operated vehicle of the Coast Guard approaching the white tailcone of the submersible, demonstrating significant damage: the hull has cracked along the central seam, and wires and tubes are scattered across the ocean floor.

Recall that during a dive to the wreckage of the Titanic, which sank in April 1912, the passengers of the tourist submersible Titan perished. The submersible went missing approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes after its dive on Sunday, June 18. According to estimates by the US Coast Guard, the oxygen supply was expected to run out on June 22. In the evening, wreckage of the submersible was found in the search area, and it soon became clear that the five wealthiest businessmen and famous explorers were no longer alive.

It is also known that the mother of 19-year-old Suleiman Dawood, who died along with his father on the Titan submersible, Christina Dawood, gave up her seat for him. The woman wanted him to set a record for solving a Rubik's cube at depth.

Additionally, Canadian director James Cameron commented on the disappearance of the underwater capsule, which was heading to the site of the Titanic wreck on June 19, in an interview with the BBC.
