Kyiv Under Attack: Aftermath and Response
According to UATV: Between the evening of June 1 and the afternoon of June 2, 2023, the Russian military launched successive waves of strikes against the Ukrainian capital. The assault claimed the lives of six civilians and left 79 others injured, among them three children, while causing extensive damage to the city and its essential services.
Key consequences of the attacks include:
- 140,000 residents lost electrical power;
- Five medical facilities were hit, with a clinic serving 20,000 people suffering the worst damage;
- Of the 79 wounded, 60 were hospitalized, including three children.
These figures underscore the severity of the situation and the vast scale of destruction.
The damage is very extensive. There is a risk of collapse on one side.

A Kyiv resident named Taras also described the condition of his car after the strikes:
The car, I think, is beyond repair: the rear is completely smashed, it won't start, and there is likely nothing that can be done.

The attacks once again illustrate the precarious security situation in Ukraine and the devastating impact of the ongoing war on civilians. The high casualty count presents a serious humanitarian challenge for Kyiv, where efforts to rebuild infrastructure and provide aid to victims will remain critical as long as the threat persists.
