Emergency power outages in Kyiv: when heating and transport will resume.
According to ТСН: On Saturday, emergency electricity outages were introduced in Kyiv. The city is undergoing a phased recovery of heating supply following a massive Russian attack that took place the day before.
This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv City State Administration.
“Currently, the operation of water supply, heating supply, and electric transport systems has been halted. Power engineers are carrying out recovery work,” the statement said.
Heating recovery
Deputy Prime Minister Oleksii Kuleba noted that about six thousand buildings in Kyiv remain without heating. Repair work has lasted more than a day, and the supply of the heating medium to about four thousand residential buildings has already begun.
According to him, centralized heating supply to hospitals, schools, and other social facilities has been partially restored.
“Emergency and repair teams are working continuously. The work is complex, but progress is being made. The system is gradually returning to operational mode. We expect the heating medium to be supplied to all buildings soon,” the official emphasized.
Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko reported that the heating supply system in Kyiv has been launched.
“Heat-generating facilities are supplying the heating medium to residential buildings, and the phased launch of supply directly to homes is underway. We expect full heat supply as early as today,” she emphasized.
Power outages
Head of the Kyiv City Military Administration Tymur Tkachенко noted that there was a problem in one of the links of the energy system.
“As a result, following the order from 'Ukrenergo', emergency electricity outages have been implemented in Kyiv. Specialists have already resolved the issue. General power supply is being restored,” he said.
According to Tkachенко, this will allow for the cancellation of emergency outages and a return to schedules. However, due to the ongoing work to eliminate the consequences of the attacks, restrictions will still continue.
The Mayor of Kyiv Vitali Klitschko noted that during the day, it was possible to restore heating supply to half of the buildings that were without heat supply after the shelling.
“Due to overload in the energy system, 'Ukrenergo' has implemented emergency electricity outages in the city. Currently, the operation of water supply, heating supply, and electric transport systems has been temporarily suspended. Power engineers are carrying out restoration work,” the city mayor said.
In addition, the head of the government noted that the electricity situation in Kyiv remains complicated. However, it is expected that planned electricity supply schedules will be implemented by the end of the day.
“Energy networks are severely damaged, and due to low temperatures, people are using electric heaters more actively,” she added.
Transport stoppage
The city authorities emphasized that due to the unstable situation in the energy system, electric transport has been temporarily halted on both the Left and Right banks of the capital. “Kyivpastrans” is launching buses that will duplicate electric transport routes.
“Due to the temporary suspension of the Borshchahivka rapid tram operation, bus connections have been organized along the route 3t Staro-Vokzalna St. — Ring Road,” the press service reported.
Attack on Kyiv
The day before, Russia launched a massive attack on Kyiv and the region. Four people were killed, including three residents of a residential complex in the Dnipro district, which was hit by a drone, and a 58-year-old emergency medical worker who arrived at a call in the Darnytskyi district.
The Russians deliberately attacked boilers in Kyiv. In some areas of the capital, there were power outages and water supply problems due to damage to substations and other facilities.
After the massive attack, the situation in Kyiv remained critical. The Mayor of the capital Vitali Klitschko called on people to leave the city, where there are alternative sources of power and heating.
The crisis in the capital of Ukraine is actively developing due to a series of attacks that have inflicted severe damage on energy facilities. The authorities continue to take measures to restore infrastructure and ensure heat and light for residents. The situation remains alarming, and all relevant services are working to eliminate the consequences of the attack.
