No Talks Until February: Moscow Sets Conditions for the US on Ukraine.
Russia’s Stance and Military Goals in Ukraine
According to Espreso.tv: A source in Moscow indicates that Russia is unlikely to engage in substantive negotiations before February of next year, while also outlining its demands to the United States regarding Ukraine. It is noted that talks are not expected until at least the end of summer, highlighting the protracted nature of the conflict and the lack of diplomatic progress.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has stated that military objectives are achievable and has ordered his forces to seize the remaining territory of Donetsk Oblast by the end of the year. This signals Russia’s intent to continue active military operations despite the pressure Putin faces from a fuel crisis and rising battlefield losses.
Negotiation Demands and Kremlin’s Vision
Additionally, Russian negotiators have informed the American side that the US must secure Ukraine’s agreement to extensive concessions. According to the Moscow source,
“for now, the preferred option for the Russians is for the Americans to hand Ukraine over to us.”
The current situation reveals a deep crisis in relations between Russia and Western nations, especially the United States. The lack of progress in talks, combined with Russia’s aggressive military ambitions, suggests the conflict could drag on for an extended period. This also casts doubt on the possibility of a peaceful resolution, as Moscow’s demands appear unacceptable to Kyiv and the international community.
