Final Farewell to Bohdan Zahorulko
According to Novyny.live: On June 30, 2023, a memorial ceremony was held in Kyiv for pilot Bohdan Zahorulko, who died on June 16 while carrying out a combat mission in the Khmelnytskyi region. Major Zahorulko, aged 55, was among Ukraine’s most seasoned test pilots. His career was deeply intertwined with the country’s aviation industry, as he tested aircraft for Antonov and commanded the crew of the An-132D.
Following the outbreak of full-scale war in 2022, Zahorulko returned to active military duty. He trained on the Su-24M bomber and flew combat sorties with the 7th Tactical Aviation Brigade named after Frank. For his service, he was awarded the Order for Courage, Third Class.
Tragically, 23-year-old navigator Bohdan Babenko also lost his life alongside Zahorulko, compounding the grief for their families and colleagues. The farewell ceremony was marked by deep sorrow, as loved ones, friends, and fellow service members paid their final respects and honored the fallen hero.
