According to TSN.ua: Following an extraordinary session of the Defense Council on January 16, 2024, the Kyiv region will reopen its general secondary education institutions starting January 19. This decision marks a significant step in restoring children's access to schooling amidst ongoing challenges. The reopening is part of broader efforts to stabilize daily life for families in the region.

New Learning Conditions Implemented

To optimize the school day, lessons will be shortened to 30 minutes. Furthermore, the second shift will conclude no later than 4:00 PM, a measure designed to accommodate the needs of students and their families. School bus transportation will be provided along 330 routes to ensure safe and convenient travel for pupils.

Prepared facilities have been equipped with the following:

  • Shelters;
  • Alternative power sources;
  • Thermal insulation for buildings;
  • Individual boiler houses;
  • Organized hot meals.

These provisions aim to create a comfortable learning environment. Commenting on the situation, Mykola Kalashnyk stated that

"the decision is timely and necessary"
