On August 11, a remarkable collision occurred between China's coast guard and the Navy of the People's Republic of China in the South China Sea. This all happened during the pursuit of a Philippine boat.According to the statement from the spokesperson of the Philippine Coast Guard, Jay Tarriela, the incident took place in the morning of August 11. The Philippines sent two patrol boats and one vessel to the area of Baho de Masinloc, where over 35 Philippine fishing vessels were present.Tarriela noted that this area is disputed, and the Philippines often raises claims against China due to provocations and manipulations aimed at hindering fishing. The Philippine Coast Guard supported the fishermen when a Chinese ship executed a risky maneuver, resulting in a collision with another Chinese military vessel. After that, the latter was declared unfit for sailing. In addition, the spokesperson urged the Chinese government to treat such situations with great responsibility and respect for maritime law to avoid further conflicts. Recently, the Chinese army took control of a disputed reef near the Philippine military base, further escalating the situation between the parties in the South China Sea region.
