North Korea launched missiles towards the Sea of Japan: reaction to US operations.
According to ТСН: This morning, North Korea launched several ballistic missiles towards the Sea of Japan. The armed forces of South Korea confirmed this information. The missiles were fired from an area near Pyongyang at approximately 07:50 local time. The South Korean military has raised its combat readiness and is actively sharing data with its allies - the US and Japan.
"Our military maintains full readiness and is carefully monitoring the situation, sharing information regarding North Korean ballistic missiles with the United States and Japan."
This launch took place against the backdrop of South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol's preparations for a visit to Beijing, where he plans to hold summit talks with Chinese leader Xi Jinping. Security issues on the Korean Peninsula are expected to be an important topic of the meeting.
Moreover, the missile launch occurred immediately after the US President's statement regarding the seizure of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro as part of a major military operation.
The last short-range ballistic missile launch towards the Sea of Japan occurred on November 7 of last year, and this incident marks the sixth missile launch by Pyongyang in 2025. Experts believe that this new launch may be North Korea's response to US actions.
"The American operation in Venezuela and the capture of President Maduro may have served as a powerful signal for Kim Jong-un - as an existential threat and an additional justification for maintaining nuclear weapons."
It was also reported that Kim Jong-un attended a major military parade in Beijing alongside Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin, emphasizing his elevated status in global politics.
An international sanctions monitoring group reported last month that North Korea is preparing to send 40,000 workers to Russia, including delegations of IT specialists.
The latest launch of ballistic missiles indicates a tense situation on the Korean Peninsula and may reflect Pyongyang's reaction to US foreign policy. Against the backdrop of planned meetings between Korea and China, this event further complicates the international situation in the region.
