Former Lithuanian Minister of Health Aurimas Pečkauskas spent two weeks in the combat zone in Ukraine, where he helped treat the wounded. The ex-minister stated that this was his third trip to Ukraine, where he, while still a minister, visited medical facilities and came this time as a volunteer of the Lithuanian NGO Blue/Yellow. He worked in the Donetsk region alongside mobile surgical teams, assisted the wounded, and brought medical equipment purchased by Lithuanian organizations.
The leading Baltic countries are developing evacuation plans for the civilian population in case of Russian aggression. After the full-scale war against Ukraine began in 2022, they have further strengthened security measures. The Russian defense industry is increasing the production of tanks and plans to pose a long-term military threat to NATO.
Support for Ukraine and Security Measures in the Baltic States
According to inkorr.com: The Lithuanian ex-minister of health, working in the combat zone in Ukraine, once again demonstrated his support by providing medical assistance to the wounded. At the same time, the Baltic countries continue to take measures to ensure the safety of their citizens, planning possible evacuation in case the situation with Russia worsens.
These events indicate the growing international support for Ukraine and the strengthening of defensive measures in the region. The actions taken by the Baltic countries highlight the seriousness of the threat from Russia, while the efforts of Lithuanian volunteers reflect solidarity with the Ukrainian people in their struggle for freedom and integrity.
