Russia’s Long-Term War Strategy Exposed: Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia in the Crosshairs, Says Achilles Commander.
Key Insights from Yuriy Fedorenko on Ukraine’s Battlefield Reality
According to UATV: Yuriy Fedorenko, commander of the 429th separate brigade of unmanned systems 'Achilles,' has stressed the critical need to understand Russia’s long-term blueprint in its war against Ukraine. According to him, Moscow’s overarching strategic goal is the destruction of Ukrainian statehood. Fedorenko specifically highlighted the situation in Donetsk region, which remains the aggressor’s primary focus. This analysis comes amid ongoing heavy fighting, with both sides vying for control in eastern and southern Ukraine.
During his remarks, Fedorenko revealed that over the past month, approximately 350 enemy infantry personnel were taken out of action near Vovchansk. He further stated that Ukrainian Armed Forces are inflicting substantial monthly losses on the adversary, neutralizing between 45,000 and 50,000 troops each month.
'The enemy operates systematically and consistently,' Yuriy Fedorenko emphasized.
Fedorenko also pointed out that Russian forces are attempting to advance toward Zaporizhzhia city and bring it under fire control. 'The enemy indeed has the ambition to reach Zaporizhzhia,' he added, noting that Ukrainian defense forces have already achieved some successes in the Zaporizhzhia direction. Ukraine’s Commander-in-Chief, Oleksandr Syrskyi, previously reported the restoration of control over approximately 470 square kilometers of territory in the area.
Fedorenko underscored the strategic importance of Donetsk for the overall defense effort:
- Donetsk remains the pivotal theater of operations.
- Only with this balance of forces can we speak of systematically weakening the enemy’s capabilities.
As a result, Ukrainian military personnel continue to actively work on strengthening their positions and countering threats from the aggressor.
These statements highlight that the front-line situation remains tense, particularly in key regions like Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia. The importance of controlling these territories underscores the strategies of both sides in the war, where enemy losses could significantly impact the conflict’s future trajectory. The efforts of Ukrainian defense forces in these directions, along with active measures to fortify positions, demonstrate a readiness for a prolonged confrontation.
