Former Deputy Prime Minister Tschernyschow is suspected of land theft: The state has lost one billion.
According to ТСН: The NABU and the SAP have completed the preliminary investigation in a criminal case against the former Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, Oleksiy Tschernyschow, and five other individuals. They are accused of abuse of office and receiving unlawful profits on a large scale.
Scheme for the illegal acquisition of land
According to the investigation, a developer in Kyiv organized a scheme for the illegal acquisition of land for a residential complex.
Tschernyschow, together with the secretary of the ministry, the minister's advisor, and the director of the state-owned company, created conditions to transfer this land to a company that later signed contracts with a specific construction firm.
Depreciation of value and profit
To reduce the share of apartments that the developer was supposed to hand over to the state, the land and existing buildings were appraised at almost five times below market value. This led to the state potentially missing out on real estate worth over 1 billion UAH.
The developer 'rewarded' Tschernyschow and other participants with significant discounts on apartments: The price per square meter ranged from 1,000 to 8,000 UAH instead of the minimum of 30,000 UAH. The total benefit for Tschernyschow exceeded 14.5 million UAH.
Seizure of apartments and previous charges
Upon the request of the NABU and the SAP, a seizure of most of the illegally acquired apartments was ordered.
Interestingly, Oleksiy Tschernyschow was previously at the center of a high-profile corruption scandal in the energy sector, but he denies his involvement in the machinations at the NAEC 'Energoatom'. The media have also linked his luxurious estates in Kozyn near Kyiv to the 'Midas' case.
This case has sparked significant public resonance as it addresses critical issues of high-level corruption. The investigations continue, and society is closely following the events in hopes of justice and transparency in government affairs.
