The Kremlin is Formulating an Ideology for Future Conflict with the West - ISW.
Analysts at the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) believe that Russia is actively creating an ideological foundation for a possible future war with Western countries.
According to them, high-ranking officials in the Kremlin are using myths about the role of the USSR in World War II to shape a state ideology that will unite Russians of both current and future generations. They emphasize that 'military and political unity against a common enemy is the only path to a strong and victorious future' for Russia.
The Secretary of the Security Council of Russia, Sergei Shoigu, compared the victory over Nazi Germany with the current invasion of Russia into Ukraine and spoke about the effectiveness of the model of governance by the Soviet Defense Committee.
Russian officials constantly accuse the West of preparing for a direct military conflict with Russia and seek to spread the idea that the West aims to strategically defeat Russia. This indicates the consolidation of the Kremlin around an unofficial state ideology that views the West as wanting to encircle and defeat Russia.
The Kremlin's Plan
Simultaneously, the Russian Federation is initiating great power initiatives to provide leadership positions to veterans of the war against Ukraine. Additionally, informational campaigns are being conducted to promote the idea of dividing the world into a 'multipolar world,' notes ISW.
Analysts believe that the Kremlin is trying to unite Russian society, and especially the elite, around this ideology to continue its aggressive policy and support for the conflict with the West and NATO even after a new leadership comes to power in Russia.
