Repressions against the Azerbaijani diaspora continue in the Russian Federation. The leader of one of the Azerbaijani communities in Russia was detained near the embassy of his country in Moscow, Russian media reports.
Detained diaspora leader
The Kremlin regime continues to exert pressure on foreign diasporas, including the Azerbaijani. Shahin Shikhlinski, the head of the local Azerbaijani community in the Urals, was detained while leaving his country's embassy in Moscow. He was previously wanted, and therefore he was taken to the local office of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in Yekaterinburg for questioning.
Where the head of the Azerbaijanis in the Urals was detained
In various cities of Russia, raids on Azerbaijanis had previously occurred, escalating the conflict between the countries. A response was received from Azerbaijan, where all joint events involving Russians were canceled.
Reports of pressure on the Azerbaijani diaspora in Russia and the detention of its leader indicate an increase in tension between the two countries, which are engaged in diplomatic confrontations. The consequences of such actions could further deteriorate relations between Russia and Azerbaijan.Read also
