Logistics for Russian Forces on the Crimean Peninsula

According to Espreso.tv: Volodymyr Seleznyov, a military expert and reserve colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, discussed the logistical support for Russian troops stationed in the temporarily occupied Crimean Peninsula. He pointed out that at least four roads from the north supply resources to Russian occupiers in Crimea. One of these routes crosses the Arabat Spit, where a bridge was demolished. Another key corridor near Chongar also suffered damage.

In 2023, Ukrainian forces struck the Chongar Bridge using Storm Shadow missiles. Additionally, two other roads leading into Crimea pass through Chaplynka and Kalachak. A bridge in the northern part of Armiansk was likewise compromised. Seleznyov emphasized that part of the occupiers' logistics originates from within Crimea itself, extending the supply line for Russian assault units by more than 100 kilometers.

Progress Toward Isolating Crimea

On June 11, Robert 'Madyar' Brovdi, commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces, reported that Crimea is nearing complete isolation from Russia. Over the past month, traffic on the 'Novorossiya' highway has dropped by more than two-thirds.

'But the Russians ran into trouble—the bridge in the northern part of Armiansk was damaged,' Volodymyr Seleznyov stated.

He added: 'And again, who knows what will happen tonight or tomorrow night.' It is noted that 'systematic, deliberate efforts continue to turn the Crimean Peninsula into an 'island' of Crimea,' signaling strategic shifts in the region.

The logistical situation for Russian forces on the Crimean Peninsula reveals significant challenges faced by the occupiers. Thanks to active Ukrainian military operations and damage to critical transport arteries, resource deliveries to Russian troops in Crimea are experiencing severe disruptions. This, in turn, could impact Russia's military capabilities in the region and underscores the importance of controlling transport routes. With declining traffic and planned measures to isolate Crimea, the situation may continue to evolve in favor of Ukrainian forces.
