Lyashko revealed the conditions for the mobilization of unarmed medical workers.

The Minister of Health Viktor Lyashko spoke about the procedure for unarmament of medical staff for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to this algorithm, the employee signs a contract for one year and is called up only for a medical position. Lyashko emphasized that this strictly applies to medical specialists, and they can voluntarily change their position if they want to become a shooter.

Private medical institutions operate under a different model, as they have the right to reserve 50% of conscripted men. According to Lyashko, if all medical staff are reserved, there will be a shortage of medical workers in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The minister also reminded that female medics can voluntarily serve in the Armed Forces.

The procedure for unarmament of medical workers will take place upon request from the Ministry of Defense and the Medical Forces Command. After the request, the Ministry of Health, in cooperation with health departments, will compile lists of necessary medical personnel. It is noted that contracts will be concluded for a period of one year.

In addition, the government has decided on the complete reservation of medical personnel in state and communal medical institutions. This concerns public health institutions, blood centers, and specialized institutions.

It should be noted that Ukrainians, even if they have a deferral or reservation from mobilization, are still obliged to report to the territorial center of recruitment and update their data.

The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed laws extending the period of martial law and mobilization until May 9, 2025.
