Lisovyi revealed when teachers' salaries will be 'doubled'.
Minister of Education Oksen Lisovyi announced the necessity of increasing teachers' salaries, claiming that they earn insufficiently in Ukraine. He noted that the minimum salary of a teacher should be at least 24,000 hryvnias, which is twice the current wage level. However, for this, additional financial resources of 50-60 billion hryvnias are needed. The situation is especially difficult with the salaries of preschool education workers, who receive significantly less than the minimum.
The Minister noted that low salaries lead to a shortage of educators, especially teachers of computer science, mathematics, and English. This affects the quality of education and the future of Ukrainian youth.
Lisovyi emphasized that the potential costs of raising teachers' salaries are not at all high compared to defense expenditures.
The minister's opinion also finds support among parliamentarians, particularly the head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Education, Science, and Innovations, Serhii Babak, who also called for salary increases.
