Logistics Crisis in Crimea

According to UATV: Supply chains across the occupied Crimean peninsula are collapsing under the strain of repeated strikes on critical transport infrastructure. The Chonhar Bridge, a vital link connecting Dzhankoi, Henichesk, and Melitopol, has sustained severe damage, causing major disruptions to the movement of goods and fuel.

“The Chonhar Bridge is extremely important for logistics between Dzhankoi and Henichesk, and from there the route continues toward Melitopol.”

After the attacks, four large breaches were discovered in the bridge, severely hampering traffic. ‘There were four large holes. They introduced reverse-flow traffic, but it made passage very difficult,’ Bariev added.

Further disruptions are affecting the Arabat Spit, following strikes on the bridge between Henichesk and that narrow strip of land. According to Bariev, ‘The Arabat Spit is effectively part of Crimea’s logistics zone.’ This has further complicated the delivery of essential goods and services to the peninsula.

Authorities are also trying to avoid overloading the Kerch Bridge due to safety concerns.

“After previous attacks on the Kerch Bridge, they are trying not to overload it.”

As a result, the logistics situation in Crimea remains highly strained, and any further strikes on transport links could lead to even more severe supply difficulties.

The mounting logistics problems in Crimea highlight the serious challenges facing the occupation authorities as they struggle to maintain stable supply lines. Strikes on key transport hubs not only hinder the movement of goods but also threaten the region’s already weakened economy. In the context of ongoing war, such infrastructure damage could have far-reaching consequences for the civilian population living on the peninsula.
