Mass Call-Up of Reserve Officers in Belarus

According to TSN.ua: The government of Alexander Lukashenko in Belarus has initiated a widespread mobilization of reserve officers and conscripts, disregarding standard social and medical exemptions from service. At least 400 reserve officers are currently known to have been summoned for mandatory training assemblies lasting up to two months, with no right of refusal.

Growing Public Concern

Pavel Latushko, Deputy Head of the United Transitional Cabinet of Belarus, noted that draft notices are being delivered during early morning hours.

"Summonses, for example, arrive at 8:00 in the morning," he reported.
This call-up is being executed on a compressed timeline, which is causing significant anxiety among the populace.

Latushko further emphasized that the mobilization is impacting individuals with special circumstances.

"A young man who just left the hospital, whose wife has hearing problems and whose child is ill," he cited as one example.
According to Latushko, "unfortunately, no refusals are accepted, everyone is taken under arms, for a month or two somewhere." This situation has drawn criticism from human rights defenders and a society worried about the consequences for the families of those conscripted. Belarus, a close ally of Russia, has faced international scrutiny over its domestic policies and role in regional security.

Consequently, the Lukashenko regime continues to implement military measures despite the social and medical hardships faced by those called up.

This mobilization may signal an intensification of Belarus's military activity, raising concerns not only domestically but also internationally. Many analysts believe such actions by Lukashenko could be a response to growing regional tensions and internal political challenges he faces. The public and rights advocates continue to voice their alarm regarding human rights and the social fallout of these call-ups.
