Farewell for Victoria Shpylka

According to Novyny.live: A public ceremony was held in Lviv's Market Square on February 23 to honor 23-year-old patrol officer Victoria Shpylka, who was killed in a terrorist attack the previous day, February 22. The service for the fallen officer continued later that evening at 6:00 PM at her family's home in the village of Kniazhyi Mist. Such public commemorations have become a somber reality in Ukraine since the full-scale invasion began.

Victoria's Life and Service

Originally from the Volyn region, Victoria moved to Kherson to begin her service in law enforcement. She was a graduate of the Lviv State University of Internal Affairs and had been serving in the Lviv region since 2023. Ukraine's Minister of Internal Affairs, Ihor Klymenko, has stated that Russia is suspected of involvement in the terrorist act that took her life. A court has ordered a suspect in the case to be held in custody until April 22.

  • A farewell service is scheduled for February 24 in the village of Verba,
  • The funeral service will be held on February 25 at 12:00 PM.

Victoria will be laid to rest in a local cemetery. Her colleagues shared memories of her dedication.

"She was responsible, respected her partners and colleagues, and helped them in every situation,"
said Marian Revakovych. Another colleague, Maria Feshchak, added:
"Before our shift, we always had a tradition of drinking coffee, discussing the previous shifts, and simply wishing each other a peaceful duty."

Victoria Shpylka's death underscores the ongoing dangers faced by Ukrainian security personnel. These terrorist acts, occurring against the backdrop of a larger conflict, continue to claim lives and prompt investigations to hold perpetrators accountable. Her loss has resonated widely, highlighting both the tragic human cost of the war and the courage of those serving on the front lines of national security.
