Hourly Power Outage Schedules to Begin in Lviv and Region on January 30.
Power Outage Schedules for Lviv and the Surrounding Region
According to Novyny.live: Starting January 30, 2023, the Lviv region will implement scheduled hourly power outages. This measure is a direct response to Russian Federation strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, which has created a critical need to manage electricity consumption. These controlled outages are a common utility strategy to prevent total grid collapse during severe generation shortages.
The local energy company, Lvivoblenergo, has announced the planned outage schedules, which are organized into several groups:
- Group 1.1: outages from 5:30 PM to 10:00 PM
- Group 1.2: outages from 10:30 AM to 2:00 PM
- Group 2.1: outages from 3:30 AM to 7:00 AM and from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM
- Group 2.2: outages from 12:00 AM to 3:30 AM and from 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM
- Group 3.1: outages from 7:00 AM to 10:30 AM and from 9:00 PM to 12:00 AM
- Group 3.2: outages from 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM
- Group 4.1: outages from 10:30 AM to 2:00 PM
- Group 4.2: outages from 6:00 AM to 10:30 AM
- Group 5.1: outages from 12:00 AM to 3:30 AM and from 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM
- Group 5.2: outages from 3:30 AM to 7:00 AM and from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM
- Group 6.1: outages from 10:30 AM to 2:00 PM
- Group 6.2: outages from 7:00 AM to 10:30 AM and from 9:00 PM to 12:00 AM
These actions are designed to maintain the stability of the power supply during a severe energy crisis.
The Critical Need for a Stable Power Supply
The introduction of scheduled power cuts in Lviv and its region underscores the profound challenges facing Ukraine's energy sector. Amidst war and relentless attacks on critical infrastructure, balancing electricity consumption with available generation capacity is essential. These scheduled outages aim to prevent more catastrophic consequences, such as nationwide blackouts, and help preserve the integrity of the country's entire energy system.
