Short-term rentals, including on the Airbnb platform, will be banned in a popular tourist area of Budapest starting next year. The city authorities have confirmed that in the sixth district, known as Terézváros or 'Budapest's Broadway', holiday rentals have been canceled. This district is famous for its many theaters, as well as the Hungarian State Opera.“This measure is aimed at protecting local residents and preserving living conditions in the area,” officials stated. The Budapest administration is striving to ensure comfort for permanent residents by reducing the pressure of tourist flow on housing in the city. The ban on short-term rentals may impact the tourism sector, but the local community hopes for an improvement in living conditions. This decision is an important step in preserving the culture and atmosphere of this beloved tourist area.
