During a meeting of European leaders in Kyiv on May 10, French President Emmanuel Macron called U.S. leader Donald Trump at a very early hour to discuss common demands to the Kremlin regarding a ceasefire. This was reported by
Glavcomciting Politico and a publication by the French president on social media.
According to the publication, during a three-hour meeting at the Mariinsky Palace on May 10, Macron suggested a phone conversation with Trump. The French president called the American leader directly from his mobile phone to inform him about the progress of the negotiations.

In a video that Macron published on his official social media account, you can see him making the call and saying to the American president: 'Hello, Donald!'. Trump, despite the early hour in the U.S., listened to the proposals of European leaders and agreed to support the demands for a ceasefire.
It is worth recalling that earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated at a press conference that the ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia should begin on Monday, May 12, and if this does not happen, new sanctions are threatened.
