April 1 Drone Barrage Hits Ukraine: Infrastructure Damaged and Casualties Reported.
Massive Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Attack on April 1
According to UATV: On April 1, Russian forces launched a large-scale drone assault targeting critical and industrial infrastructure across Ukraine. The attack left at least one person injured and caused power outages in several communities. This escalation underscores the ongoing threat to civilian infrastructure amid the conflict.
In the Zakarpattia region, two air raid alerts were issued on the first day of April: the first from 1:25 PM to 3:05 PM, and the second from 3:15 PM to 3:18 PM. Around 2:00 PM, the Ukrainian Air Force reported a drone moving westward. During the night leading into April 1, the enemy deployed 339 attack unmanned aerial vehicles against Ukrainian territory.
Aftermath of the Strikes
The attacks left roughly 11,000 subscribers without electricity in the Kolomyia district. The list of communities experiencing power outages includes:
- Sniatyn
- Zabolotiv
- Pidhaichyky
- Mateivtsi
- partially Hvizdets
In the Ternopil region, an agricultural enterprise was hit, while in Lutsk, the assault damaged an industrial facility and an apartment building. In the Khmelnytskyi region, a drone strike on a business caused no casualties.
“During the air raid alert, Russian unmanned aerial vehicles attacked critical infrastructure facilities,” stated Myroslav Biletskyi.
This attack serves as further evidence of the conflict's escalation and the threat to civilian infrastructure in Ukraine. Power cuts and damage to industrial sites could have serious repercussions for local populations and regional economies, highlighting the urgent need for protecting civilian assets and international support for Ukraine's security.
The April 1 drone strike demonstrates Russia's continued military campaign aimed at destabilizing Ukraine and harming vital infrastructure. The resulting power outages and industrial damage may significantly affect affected communities and economic activity, reinforcing the importance of safeguarding civilian objects and bolstering international assistance.
“Dozens of attack drones were directed toward the Lviv region,” added Maksym Kozytskyi.
