Sviatoslav Palamar, known as 'Kalyna' and deputy commander of the 1st Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine 'Azov', shared some impressions about the defense of Mariupol. In an interview with Dmytro Gordon, he spoke about how difficult it was to witness the death of people and how medics kept amputated limbs and grenades in 'Azovstal'.In the conversation, Palamar also mentioned the shelling by the Russian army and the danger posed by the grenades that the wounded held in their hands. It was also important that he felt powerless in the face of the death of innocent civilians. The fighters of 'Azov' acted decisively, even destroying their own weapons to prevent them from falling into the hands of the enemy. The hardest thing was to acknowledge that innocent people died during the war.
