According to Ukraine's Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR), the population of Donbas has fallen by nearly one-third over the past ten years. This region, once a heavily populated industrial hub, is now facing a severe population collapse.

The demographic losses caused by Russian occupation are extremely serious.

“The scale of demographic losses provoked by Russia in the occupied territories of eastern Ukraine is quite telling: in 10 years, the population of Donbas has shrunk by almost a third,” the Main Intelligence Directorate reported.
