New route network in Manchester

According to The Sun: A new route network will appear in Manchester, connecting historical pubs, a "sky park" and Europe's most famous museum.

The "CyanLines" project aims to unite the city's green spaces and canals through a network of pedestrian, cycling, and roller paths.

CyanlinesThe route network will stretch over 100 miles across Manchester and Salford, covering the city's most famous historical sites. CyanlinesIf you decide to walk the entire route, it may take up to five days.

In total, the routes will include four main paths: CL1, CL2, CL3, and CL4.

Main routes

CL1

The CL1 route starts at the Manchester Victoria metro station and leads to the Glade of Light Memorial, dedicated to the victims of the 2017 Manchester Arena attack.

Continuing through Cathedral Gardens, you will reach Sadler’s Yard square, where The Sadler’s Cat pub is located. This historic venue is named after aeronaut James Sadler, who became the first Englishman to ascend in a balloon in 1785, taking his cat with him.

Next, you will pass through Aspin Lane with its new gardens, and the route ends at Queens Park, established in 1846.

CL2

If you enjoy exploring water routes, CL2 will be a great choice.

This route starts at Depot Mayfield, a former railway depot that has been transformed into a cultural center.

Next, you will cross Cottonfield Park to New Islington, where you can visit an urban beach.

For children, there is also a playground in Ancoats Garden with swings and slides. The route passes through Cutting Room Square and the dining venue Mackie Mayor – a building listed as a historic monument since 1858.

InstagramThe building also has a children's play area hidden under the stairs.

CL3

Those choosing CL3 can start the route near the "Rise Up, Women" statue in honor of Emmeline Pankhurst. This route passes through several parks, including the updated All Saints Park with numerous cafes.

Brunswick Park is conveniently located near the Manchester Museum, recently recognized as the best museum in Europe.

This route is suitable for pub lovers, as there are many establishments, including The Temple, located in a former toilet window, with a great selection of beer.

InstagramAlong the route, you can also stop by other pubs, such as The Peveril of the Peak and The Salisbury.

CL4

This route is the only mid-level one among all four.

It passes by historical and popular places, including the Museum of Science and Industry and the Roman fort Mamucium, founded in 79 AD.

An additional stop is the "sky park" – Castlefield Viaduct, built in 1892 and filled with vibrant flowers.

You will also visit Middlewood Locks — a £700 million development that includes the restoration of the first locks on the Manchester-Bolton-Bury canal.

The route has plenty to offer, including Old Pint Pot — a pub with lively events and live music.

Additionally, a new water attraction worth £400 million with 20 slides and an indoor beach is planned in Manchester.

CyanlinesThe routes also include pubs located in former buildings, such as the Victorian-style public toilet pavilion.
