Mayor Terekhov has not yet decided which church calendar the city will follow for the celebration of St. Nicholas Day.
A Christmas tree is already standing in a safe place in Kharkiv - at the metro station. The city's mayor, Igor Terekhov, reported this in his interview with 'Glaсkom'.
The tree was installed underground to protect children and adults who gather around it.
«We will hold performances - both near the tree and in several other locations. We want as many Kharkiv residents as possible to join the celebration and receive positive emotions. We believe in miracles and New Year's wonders and wish that next year a just peace will come and everyone's living conditions will change,» Terekhov explained.
The city mayor did not answer the question regarding the official opening of the tree in the city - on December 6 or 19. He noted that the tree will be opened, and the celebrations of St. Nicholas Day and Christmas will take place as usual.
Already on Friday, November 22, the main Christmas tree of the city was installed in the Kharkiv metro for the third Time. This was done to ensure the safety of the city's residents.
In Ivano-Frankivsk, they also plan to set up a tree for the Christmas holidays. This was announced by the city's mayor, Ruslan Martinkiv. However, not all residents are fond of this idea.
The mayor stated that the tree will be artificial and located in the square near the city lake. He believes that 'children deserve a Christmas miracle', which is why the tree will be installed.
In Kyiv, no budget funds will be spent on New Year's locations. However, there may be a Christmas tree erected in Sophia Square at the expense of benefactors.
