The Ministry of Energy reacted to Slovakia's threats to stop electricity imports to Ukraine.
Slovakia's decision to halt electricity supply to Ukraine is a violation of European regulations
Energy Minister Herman Haluschenko stated that Ukraine is ready to replace electricity imports from Slovak suppliers with those from other countries, as Slovakia's decision violates European regulations. Ukraine has already held negotiations with partners regarding this issue. Furthermore, Ukraine assured that it will ensure stable gas supply to its consumers regardless of the closure of Russian gas transit. The Minister emphasized that Ukraine has always been open and consistent regarding transit.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky also reacted to Slovakia's threats to halt electricity supply. He noted that this situation is linked to the cessation of Russian gas transportation to Europe.
It is also worth noting that due to cold weather and a reduction in maritime imports, the European Union is quickly depleting its gas storage facilities. Such a situation had already occurred during the energy crisis three years ago.
