The Situation Regarding Andriy Yermak

According to TSN.ua: Ukraine's Ministry of Defense has confirmed that Andriy Yermak, the former head of the President's Office, has not submitted any application to a territorial recruitment center (TRC) for military service. This information was provided in response to an official inquiry from Member of Parliament Yaroslav Zhelezniak. According to the ministry, Yermak has not approached any TRC to express a desire to serve, whether through mobilization, for a special period, or under contract.

Andriy Yermak resigned from his position as head of the President's Office on November 28, 2025. His resignation followed searches of his residence by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) as part of the 'Midas' operation. Following his resignation, Yermak publicly stated his intention to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine. However, as the Defense Ministry notes, he has taken no formal steps to do so by registering with a recruitment center.

The Importance of Formal Procedures

This situation indicates that Yermak's stated intentions have not been followed up with the required official action. In Ukraine, all men of military age are subject to conscription procedures, and public figures are scrutinized for compliance. The lack of an application to a TRC raises questions about the seriousness of the former official's declared plans and his potential role in the country's military affairs, especially during a time of ongoing national defense.

This case underscores the critical importance of formal procedures for anyone intending to serve in the military, particularly during mobilization. Failure to register with the appropriate authorities can cast doubt on the commitment of even high-profile individuals.
