Washington Reports Progress on the Most Complex Territorial Issues Regarding Ukraine

According to ТСН: According to information from Washington, progress is being observed in negotiations regarding Ukraine concerning the resolution of the most complex territorial issues.

A senior American official announced this after two days of meetings in Berlin while speaking to journalists during a conference call. He noted that the security bloc of the future agreement includes 'everything that the U.S. deems necessary for Ukraine to feel secure.'

American representatives also reported a convergence of positions with Kyiv regarding the situation around the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, which is controlled by Russia.

Territorial Issues

Commenting on the territorial issues, the official stated that the United States had provided Volodymyr Zelenskyy with 'intellectually stimulating proposals.'

'He needs to get back to us with a response. When that happens, we will be obliged to discuss these ideas with the Russian side and our European partners,' he explained.

The official emphasized that Washington is 'very pleased with the progress made, particularly in territorial issues.'

New Consultations

The American negotiator announced new consultations for the upcoming weekend in the U.S. — involving working groups and military personnel, where it is planned to 'review the maps.' He also noted that, despite significant progress, some issues remain unresolved:

'We have likely settled about 90% of the disputes between Ukraine and Russia, but some points still need resolution.'

The President of Ukraine confirmed during a joint press conference with Friedrich Merz the existence of 'different positions' between Kyiv and Washington regarding possible territorial concessions within the framework of a peace settlement.

Zelenskyy's Comments

Zelenskyy commented on Donald Trump's words that allegedly Ukraine does not support the American peace plan. He noted that Kyiv has already sent its latest comments and edits to the document to the U.S.

'The plan cannot please everyone, as it involves various compromises. But for us, the most important thing is that it is as fair as possible, primarily for Ukraine, while also being effective,' the head of state stressed.

It was previously reported that a conversation between the U.S. President and Volodymyr Zelenskyy, along with European leaders, would take place today to discuss the peace agreement.

Thus, the noted progress in negotiations signals the activation of diplomatic efforts at the international level to achieve stability in the region. The parties continue to work on compromises, but, as can be seen, there are still questions that require attention and resolution. The latest comments from the Ukrainian president indicate Kyiv's readiness to discuss the terms of peace, which could be an important step in the future negotiation process.
