French Villages That Inspired 'Beauty and the Beast': How to Enter a Disney Fairytale

In France, there are two towns that inspired the creators of 'Beauty and the Beast' to create the 'little village' where Belle grew up. These are the villages of Riquewihr and Ribeauvillé, located just a 10-minute drive from each other.

The French Riquewihr, located about an hour's drive from Strasbourg, boasts streets as if straight out of a film. It is called one of the 'most beautiful villages in France' for its colorful houses with cobblestone paths.

After strolling through the winding streets, visitors should check out the city's wine cellars. Winemakers treat tourists not only with wine but also with delicious dishes. Riquewihr is also known for its markets where fresh fruits and vegetables, cheeses, meats, jewelry, clothing, and much more can be purchased.

Ribeauvillé is one of the oldest medieval towns in the French region of Alsace, known for the historic architecture of the ruins of the Three Castles of the lords of Ribeaupierre. The main industry of the region has been vineyards since the Middle Ages. It's best to plan a trip during one of the famous community festivals, the Wine Fair or the Old Music Festival, which take place at the end of summer.

Earlier, we mentioned that the Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air is closing its base in the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi. We also wrote about the most beautiful Ukrainian lakes where one can refresh this summer.
