Multiple Citizenship - Zelensky made a statement.
The President of Ukraine stated on Monday, July 21, regarding multiple citizenship. The first countries to join will be Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, and the Baltic States.
About this, the Ukrainian leader wrote on his Telegram channel.
How multiple citizenship will work
'Our embassies, our consulates must assist Ukrainian citizens and Ukrainian communities. Ukrainians are already a global community. There are certain differences between migration waves, there are different needs in different geographies, but the essence is the same - we must maintain the connection of all our people with Ukraine,' it is noted in the message.
According to Zelensky, the law on multiple citizenship is beginning to be implemented. Initially, countries will be identified with which the relevant procedures will begin.
The President stressed that among the first countries will be Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, and the Baltic States. Further steps will involve consultations with the Prime Minister, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the Speaker.
'We should also think about Canada, about other countries where many Ukrainians live, and where Ukraine is strongly supported,' Zelensky clarified.
An important aspect is the countries that traditionally stand with Ukraine and support Ukrainians.
Recall that Zelensky presented state awards to ambassadors in the EU, the USA, the Czech Republic, and France.
The president also urged diplomats to seek ways to support Ukraine.
The message from the President of Ukraine about the possibility of Ukrainians obtaining multiple citizenship is perceived as a step towards maintaining ties between Ukrainians and different countries, which has the potential to improve cooperation and understanding between nations.Read also
