Mobilization 2025: The End of Volunteering and New Recruitment Rules.
Reasons for the Reform of Mobilization in Ukraine
According to Novyny.live: The Ukrainian mobilization has fundamentally changed, as Roman Istomin, head of the group at the Poltava regional recruitment center, explains. While numerous volunteers came forward in 2022, the focus for 2025 and 2026 is on a structured recruitment process. This development reflects the changed security situation and military requirements in the war.
Istomin emphasizes that these are two completely different procedures, which is crucial for understanding the new reality. As a reason for the shift, he cites massive security issues.
'This started after citizens even published open videos from collection points,' says Roman Istomin.
This behavior raised significant concerns regarding security and the protection of personal data during conscription.
However, there is no central order for the seizure of mobile phones, Istomin clarifies. The situation can vary from recruitment center to recruitment center.
'They talk about a lawyer getting his leg broken, but that does not mean that in all recruitment centers lawyers get their legs broken,' he summarized, referencing the need for individual case consideration.
The reform of the mobilization processes is thus a reaction to strategic realignments and acute security challenges. The shift to a more systematic recruitment process indicates the ongoing personnel needs of the armed forces in light of the continued threat environment. These adjustments are a direct reflection of the changing realities of war and their impact on Ukrainian society.
